    The car was not there, we spent half an hour looking at every car in the carpark and it was not there.

    Rented a 9 passenger van for our family vacation in Spain. After arriving to terminal 2, we were notified that they don't have our vehicle at the terminal and were offered to wait 40 minutes or take a bus to terminal 1. Having 4 suitcases, a stroller and a baby, we decided it would be more convenient for us to wait. Throughout the wait, I had to go to the rental office 5 times to check on the status of the vehicle. Finally after an hour and 45 minutes the van was delivered to our terminal. The van arrived with multiple damages that were not noted on the paperwork, including a missing windshield wiper. The management did not care at all that the car wasn't completely safe to drive without a windshield wiper or about the inconvenience of waiting for almost 2 hours with a baby outside in 25C weather. Worst customer service I had experienced in years. Will not rent from Europcar ever again.

    I now receive my invoice, I have been charged for additional cover which I never asked for or aggreed to, I have been charged for the satnav which i didn't want but she insisted was free, I have been charged a diesel car charge when I rented a petrol car.

    When I arrived to Barcelona airport , I was told by Europcar representative (I think his name was Lucas) that I'll have to pay excess (about 1000 euro including VAT) on every scratch, meaning I don't have zero excess since "I bought from a broker and not directly from Europcar" (as he said).

    When I returned the car, I spoke with several Europcar representatives (and the local supervisor), and they explained to me very clearly that I was already fully covered with zero excess with the original voucher, thus there was no need to extend ("RSA-Assitence Plus" and "WWI: Glass & Types").

    Very good service. I needed the car for 12 more hours. Was approved without any problems and no extra charge. Deposit was refunded in 3 business days. Car was upgraded without me asking (although the brakes had been making an annoying noise). Very good experience and not for the first time.

    He said that only if I buy the "full coverage" from Europcar, I'll have zero excess on all types of damages. he said that the "full coverage" of Europcar was adding "RSA-Assitence Plus" and "WWI: Glass & Types" for total of 204.55 euro for 15 days.

    I have always relied on Europcar's consistently pleasant rental services when visiting Europe, until a recent experience left me certain they will be my last choice in the future. The core values, ethics, and integrity these organizations swear by are really only tested when something goes wrong and the customer support process kicks in. Well...a lot went wrong for me and my family during our vacation, while the company has bluntly neglected to do much about it. I rented a vehicle from Europcar in Barcelona El Prat Airport for 11 days, which seized to function later the same day - a battery issue. A shop mechanic was dispatched to attempt a fix: boost the battery and instruct me to drive around for about one hour to charge it up. This didn't fix the problem - the car would not start again. Europcar assistance made a timely decision to remove the vehicle and take it to a garage, with the assist agent assuring me it was not my fault since the fix did not work and something was wrong with the battery or the charging system. One would expect the assistance charges to be dropped in a scenario like this. The problems escalated from here. I was on the phone for hours as the agents appeared to search for a replacement vehicle (I was located in Tossa de Mar) at nearby locales, but with no sense of urgency. I waited for hours at times between calls just to get bad news with no escalation. El Prat Airport Europcar office phone line was out of service and there was no other way to reach them (hard to believe). It took nearly two days before I had another vehicle in my possession - I had to return to Barcelona Airport (3 hour return commute) with no guarantees they would have a similar vehicle in the inventory. The Europcar agent there also assured me all of my mishaps were being logged into the system and would be directed to customer service later on. The only available car on the lot I received had two pages of damages written up, interior covered with crumbs and ants which we discovered the next day (vehicle interior condition was easily condusive to insect breeding). We had ant battles inside the vehicle for days. Upon returning it to Europcar and prior to departing from Spain, I thoroughly explained my story to a Europcar agent again, who was polite and confidently reassured me my case would be looked at closely, particularly that some form of compensation would be warranted. I received an invoice two weeks later, which included missing fuel charges for the broken down vehicle, road assistance fees, and a premium upcharge for the replacement vehicle. Absolutely zero compensation. In fact, stacked against the assurances made by Europcar representatives, my invoice was higher by 30% against what was expected. Gathering all evidence and receipts to support my claim, I invested additional time to send a highly detailed, day-by-day recount of what had happened to Europcar customer service in UK, seeking compensation. The response that came back two weeks later had misleading information from the supposed documented notes by agents of Europcar on Spain, omissions of important information such as extent of time I was without a vehicle, and claims that fuel charges were related to the replacement vehicle, which was returned full with proof of refueling. In the end, what would be fair reimbursement resulted in a mere 10 EURs refund - compensation for providing a faulty vehicle, very poor changeover process, not having a car for nearly two days, receiving a dirty and ants infested replacement vehicle, and lost vacation time dealing with uninterested customer service staff. It is truly disappointing that a company with values for great customer experience can reveal so many support gaps all the way from front line staff to back office operations.
